Most people will tell you they love the fall. All the bright beautiful colors, the crisp morning air, the crunchy leaves. Not me though, most of all I HATE the fall!
I say,Hate, and I realize that’s a pretty strong word. I only use it because I can’t think of anything stronger, and all of the other four-letter words are already taken.
Think about who it was that coined that phrase. Earnest Hemingway, who by the way wasn’t necessarily noted for his bright cheary outlook on life. He wasn’t exactly the poster boy for hope.
I refuse to be sucked in by all the distractions to the fact that the greatest season of the year is slipping away. Truth is I’m usually on a dead run from the winter solstice to maximize the ever increasing daylight hours. I admit to a little sadness on the first day of summer because I know that we have piqued in the amount of daylight we will enjoy for the year.
No, to me fall represents the end of fun. Shorter days and longer pants and sleeves. Soon the trees will be bare, the grass will sleep, and the birds will have gone south.
The good news. It’s only a season. One-fourth of the entire year. I’ll survive it. I have for over half a century.
Just like the dark period your business might be going through right now. Hang in there, don’t give up the battle. Sure it’s hard, but that’s why your broke relatives aren’t doing it and are trying to discourage you from being successful.
Remember, the best revenge is to live well. Spring is just around the corner!
